No star parties were held in June, the long twilight evenings making public sessions impractical. Early July will be similar. With darker evenings, suitable targets and member availability still to align, late July is likely to provide the first realistic opportunity for an event.
We therefore plan to hold an event at the usual West Cliff location, Captain Cook Headland, on July 25th from 9:00pm, followed by another event there on August 1st.
Next month promises to be especially busy, with regular events, Regatta activities, and both solar and lunar eclipses. The main highlight will be the large partial solar eclipse on August 12th. Further details will follow in next month’s notes, but we are already asking WDAS members who may be able to help, including with possible transport arrangements, to get in touch.
If you are new to the area and would like to join the society or have become interested in the night sky and want to take 'one small step', please do make contact, you will be very welcome.
