On Friday April 7th we shall be again heading in the direction of the Fox and Hounds, Ainthorpe for their 'Welcome Spring under the Stars' event.  Hosts Colin and Vicky at the Fox and Hounds will be hoping for good weather and a good crowd, with WDAS members on-hand with a raft of instruments to explore all that is on offer in the Spring night sky.  Mercury, Venus, and Mars will be the focus of planetary attention, along with observations of those wonders of the winter sky still visible before they depart from the sky.  The event starts from 20:30hrs, finishing around 22:15hrs.  If it's like 'Evening under the Stars' last October, when over 60 people attended the event, it should be a busy and enjoyable night.

Hoping for a similar scene - a busy event - Fox and Hounds - Oct 2022

We are proposing to be on site for 20:00hrs, allowing plenty of time for 'setting up' in the useable light remaining.  Observing vantage points are very good from the location, with the amenities of the Hotel and Bar right at hand.  As usual, transportation of equipment is the main concern should forecast conditions be conducive for observing.  Members with a vehicle wishing to come along will be very welcome, and are advised to please contact Mark in advance so that plans can be laid.  As there is no formal meeting in April, consider this an informal get together under the skies of Spring!

Members of the public interested in going to the event, please contact the Fox and Hounds on 01287 660218 - or www.foxandhoundsainthorpe.com
