At the society meeting on January 6th, Richard Randle gave a short presentation on his trip to Iceland last autumn to view the aurora (amongst other things). The images were stunning, the time lapse videos even more so! Richard also gave explanations on why the colours of aurora can change with respect to how far north you are observing from.
Mark looked ahead at some of the celestial highlights of 2026, and discussions were had about Danby Observatory.
At the February meeting their will be further important discussions and plans on Danby Observatory, now we have more details. We shall review events last month (it was a busy month) and pay tribute to John Randles and Dr Allan Chapman.
We shall of course be reviewing what's hiding behind the cloud in the February night sky! Hope you can join us!
