Weather permitting WDAS members will be travelling up to Ainthorpe and the Fox and Hounds hotel for the Dark Skies-Warm Fires weekend run by Colin.  We shall hopefully be turning a telescope or two toward the skies on February 9th starting from 6:30pm, something we have managed to achieve in recent years, but as always indoor presentations are also an integral part of the evening, more so some years.

Then on February 16th we shall be returning to Whitby Youth Hostel, for the Dark Skies event in the Half term break they are hosting.  This event is one of many being publicised by Danby Lodge under the NYMNP Dark Sky events umbrella. Weather permitting, Mark will be able to redeem himself by remembering the eyepieces, essential items when only the slimmest chance of observing is on the cards.  Yep - he them left at home last time and clouds failed to come to his rescue!

A similar format will be adopted to that of the previous event in October, i.e. a short introductory talk, a ‘Star Walk’, observations (if possible) and a closing presentation. The outside aspect will undoubtedly be subject to weather considerations. The event starts at 6:30pm, so we'll need to be on site for 6pm.  Further information will be given at the February meeting.

There will be an event at the Danby Lodge on March 1st, which we are hoping to attend and assist. Details regarding this will be given at the February meeting.  Check our website also.
